I offer you my 18 years of teaching experience (holding QTS, DBS and Insurance), my patience and humour. I will show you with demonstrations, support and examples, how to make a clay creation. Such as a trinket dish, animal sculpture soap dish, bird feeder, tea light holder, incense cone burner, tree decoration, plant pot holder, a bowl or pencil holder just to mention a few.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist, just beginning your creative journey or have been inspired by The Great British Pottery throw-down show, this workshop promises that you’ll get messy and enjoy it! Each workshop focuses on a different skill from Pinch Pots, Slab Building, Coiling and Sculpting. By the end of the workshop, you’ll not only have learned a new skill and appreciation of the craft but your flame of creativity will be ignited and you’ll be fanning it, wanting to learn more.
Enthusiasm and a passion for learning are a great start but I would also suggest clothing you don’t mind getting dirty in.
A tub to take your creation home in. This does not need to be brand new (around 6x4 inches). I often re-use plastic containers and wax lined takeaway boxes.
Tip: keep hold of small plastic containers for painting projects at home.
If you have seen any images of clay creations that inspire you, gather them and / or photos or even sketch out your ideas if you think there is something you’d like to create. You can also have a look at my portfolio to see what can be made in the workshops. I always bring along examples on the day to provide a visual aid.
I will provide your clay, along with various sculpting tools and equipment.
